Riding and cutting Print E-mail

Sunday morning Andrea and I went out to Swatara for a ride and to see how the trails looked after all the bad weather. We found the trails in great shape with a lot of new trees down. So, we left some for fun (to hop), cut problem ones out, and a few we need to return with a chainsaw to remove.

1-11-09 UPDATE: Thanks to the help of Mike and Andrea we got the rest of the problem logs off the trail. Don't worry; we did leave a few new ones in to prove more fun and challenge.    Brian

Hello SAMBA

As a reminder we will be working at Swatara Park this Sunday. The plan is to meet at the main parking lot on State Park Lane at 9am and work until about noon. As usual I’ll bring the tools and you bring the muscle.

Another reminder, hunting season starts on Saturday October 4. Click here for the link to the PA Hunting Schedule.

Hello SAMBA, I would like give a HUGE thanks to Dave Demoss, Terry Resanovich, Nick Resanovich, Brad Doxtater, Derrick Hoffer, and Andrea Strubhar for the killer workday on the construction of the new trail today. I am still pulling out thorns out of my arms. The next workday is October 5th.

Thanks again!

Hello SAMBA,

Last Saturday Ben Kreider, Terry Resanovich, Desiree Oliveri, Joe Daversa, Mark Perez, and Andrea Strubhar help build the new trail out at Swatara Park and I would like to extend a big THANKS to them.  I would really like to get this trail opened before hunting season starts(which is very soon). So, if we could make this next workday a big one I think we can get really close to that goal. That said the next workday is Saturday, September 6th. Please try to attend.

Thanks,

Brian Arnold, SAMBA President

Thanks/Swatara Trail Build Dates Print E-mail
Hello SAMBA
I would like give a late thanks Mark Light, Terry Resanovich, Joe Daversa, and Andrea Strubhar for coming out on last Saturday and helping with the construction of the new trail. For such a small crew we got a lot of new trail cut!
Also big thanks need to go out to Mountainbike Mike Carter, Terry and Nick Resanovich, Kory Jones, and Andrea Strubhar- for trimming the current loops at Swatara. The sight lines are all open again and should be good for some time!
Finally I would like to announce some future dates to work on the new trail at Swatara Park: Sat. 8/23, Sat 9/6, Sun 9/21, Sun 10/5, Sun 10/19 at 9am each morning until about noon. I really want to get this done quickly, so I may throw a few weeknights in the mix.
Now get out and enjoy the ride!

7-8-08 Swatara Ride Print E-mail

Another great Tuesday night ride this week at Swatara State Park! We had a large group (about 18 riders) covering a range of skills and speeds so we broke up into two groups. Sorry no pictures this time I forgot the camera. At the end we met up at the parking lot and some of us hit the local BBQ place again. Good ride + good food equals a great night!
