Hello SAMBA Here is a quick Sandy update and anouncement: hurricane Sandy From the report I got Swatara was the only park hit hard by hurricane Sandy. We set out with a small chainsaw crew last weekend to investigate the damage and were surprised to find so much down. There were about 100 trees down which took an accumulated total of 41 hours to clean up. Once we got into it we just pushed through it. However, if we would have known what we were walking into we would have called out for more help. So, I would like to thank Joe Ketrick, Nick Resanovich, Terry Resanovich, Jeff Strubhar, & Andrea Strubhar for their assistance in clearing the trails. There were also people, that I did not get their names, that helped out by reporting damage, aided with handsaw, and helped move trees. Thanks again to everyone! TUESDAY NIGHT RIDES AT SWATARA STATE PARK RETURN First evening of the night rides is Tuesday November 13, 2012. This is the only day that night riding is legal in the park so if you want to ride please be there and ready to ride at 6:30 pm. This is a group ride and no one is permitted to ride alone. So, remember you bikes, lights, helmet and smiles because they are all required. All riders should be out of the park by 9pm. See you on the trails! Brian Arnold, SAMBA President |

Good News!
The trails at Swatara Park are now rideable again and the roads are open. There were approximately 90-100 trees cut off the trails. Nick and Terry Resanovich as well as Andrea and I were out this week cutting away. However a big portion of that was done by Nick and Terry, so give them a big thanks when you see them.
Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Hello SAMBA,
I hope everyone had been enjoying the nice weather that we have been having. Well trimming season is here and Swatara Park is in need. So, Wednesday, July 13th, looks like a good day to start. The plan is to start working at 6:15 pm. We will meet at the main parking lot at the end of State Park Lane. Why? to keep the sight line opens and the trails flowing! I will bring the sharp tools that should make it go quickly. If you would like to bring a trimmer you are more then welcome. Just one warning; there is poison out there. Just so that I have enough tools please send me a message

Hello SAMBA! I just wanted to pass on a quick SAMBA News update. SWATARA STATE PARK · The Tuesday night rides are still leaving at 6pm from the trailhead at the end of State Park Lane. All riders are welcome! · Come Tame The Jungle! Trimming Thursdays continue this Thursday, 6-24 & 7-1, from 6pm till 8. The idea is to keep the singletrack flowing and still be able to see other users ahead of you. I will be bringing tools, but if you want to bring a trimmer it's ok. There is poison out there, so long pants are recommended. If you can make it please let me know (click here to send a message). Thanks to Nick & Terry Resanovich, Mike Carter, Mark Light, and Andrea Strubhar for helping out so far. · Name That Trail. DCNR is looking to SAMBA to name the trails we built at Swatara State Park. So send your name suggestions for any or all of the trails to me (click here to send a message). You have till the first week in July and then I will put a poll up for each trail for all to vote on. I’ll send out an email when the polls are up. If you need a map, click here. Look out for the Get Your Ride On messages for random rides also. See you out on the trail!
