Club Business

SAMBA has found and secured a new insurance policy and getting ready to move forward with projects and rides (see below).

Trail Care Crew Visit

SAMBA had a very successful visit from the IMBA Trail Care Crew in April. We has several events in Harrisburg followed by a trail school and trail build at Weiser State Forest (RCST). Thanks to all that attended and help out! click here for the IMBA article on the visit.

SAMBA with its partners,  IMBACAGA, and QBP, are very close to creating access to trails in Harrisburg. This project is planned to be released in stages and should be ready to enter stage 1 later this year. Please stay tuned for more info

In an effort to build and grow the club we are looking for people to help out with some committees. Currently there is a need for Event, Public Relation/Promotion, and Communications Committees. If you have an interest or if you feel the Club could benefit from something else that you would like to help with please reply to this message. Thanks!

Camp Mack

As many of you may know we have lost a few trails due to logging in the camp. SAMBA has been active in laying out new trails to replace the ones lost.  This project has been delayed by snow and now with the Camp in the Summer Scout session the plan is to start construction this Fall. We will post workdays as soon as we finalize the planning.

Swatara State Park

Trail trimming days coming soon (the goal is to keep the sight lines open and to trails flowing)!

Rattling Creek

Wolf Pond reroute scheduled for Sat June 21 from 10:30AM-3PM and Sun June 22 from 9AM-1PM. This is a joint work day with SAMBA and Friends of Weiser. Click here for more info.

Rides (bikes, helmets and smiles required)

SAMBA is looking to put more rides on the calendar, but for now here in the one we look at:

This a ride that leaves the parking lot 6:30. For this ride SAMBA is just providing a meeting time with the intent for members to have a social ride for all skill levels.

July at RCST

Details to be announced soon, but SAMBA is looking to have a group ride at RCST with a social gathering at the end of the ride.

April Trail Care Crew Visit Print E-mail

April Trail Care Crew Visit

SAMBA is happy to announce that we’ve been chosen to host a visit from the IMBA Trail Care Crew this spring and we will be holding three events during the first week of April.

The team will be in town teaching their “Trail Building School” to examine sustainable trail building techniques, and we will be working with them to start construction of a new section up at Rattling Creek, weather permitting.

Another one of the key functions of the TCC is to help clubs learn ways to grow and strengthen through their “Club Care” seminar.

Lastly, the TCC will lead the presentation “Better Living through Trails” which is targeted at local officials, land managers, and political figures and outlines the benefits of having a new Mountain Biking trail in their community. That’s right! We said “new Mountain Biking trail.

Maybe we’ll even get to do some riding!

To learn more please see the events flyers below then follow the link to register.

Pre-registration requested but not required. All events open to SAMBA members and we hope to see you there!
