The Blue Marsh Trail surrounds the Blue Marsh Lake. It was voted one of the top 10 trails in the US some time back. It is not very technical but fun to ride nonetheless. Rocky Ridge County Park has 9 separate trails, some of which intersect allowing the rider to do different loops. Trails are closed during "wet conditions," as determined by Park Rangers. For current conditions, call the Parks Office at (717) 840-7440 for trail updates (available 24 hours a day), or refer to trail open/closed signs located along park entrance areas. Three races are held here every year at Michaux and expert riders feel that this is the toughest x-country race in the nation! So, the trails are rocky. If you chose to ride the race courses, all trails are rated as most difficult, and they are. This trail system is set up for ATVers, so the "easy" trails are less murderous. Weiser State Forest's trails were built and are maintained by the Rattling Creek Single Trackers mountain bike club($10 to join, detailed map with membership). The trails are mostly technical single-track, but with some fast twisty trails, also fire roads which make it possible to ride loops of different lengths. Various trailheads located along Lykens Rd and at the Minnich Springs picnic area. |

French Creek's network of trails on well-maintained state park land. Maps are provided at the ranger station. Some trails closed to MTB (reserved for hiking). Various loops can be done from 4 to 25 miles in total. Good mix of trails - with the single-track variety you'd expect out of a hilly Pennsylvania region. It is readily accessible from the Pennsylvania Turnpike and is located approximately 7 miles northeast of the Morgantown Interchange (Exit 22) on PA Route 345.
