There will be an open house on Oct 21 hosted by the Friends of Weiser. They are a multi use group supporting hikers, bikers, hunters, horses, and hang gliders in the Weiser Forest, home of the IMBA Epic Rattling Creek Trails. They have done some great work in the past and have some new projects lined up. SAMBA will be in attendance with a booth too, as well as other user groups. The open house will take place from 11AM-2PM in the main parking lot of Haldeman Tract on White Oak Road by the Forestry Office (and by Camp Muckleratz). 2834 White Oak Road, Halifax, PA 17032

They will be offering a Chicken Barbecue as a fundraiser, please preregister at: There may be a few extra dinners available day of, but purchasing them in advance will guarantee you get one and help with the planning. The Bike Reg deadline for ordering is Monday Oct 15 at 5PM, so please order now!! We want to show how much the MTB community appreciates these trails and the hard work that is done to keep Weiser such an awesome place to ride. If you preregister for a meal and don't make it, we will donate them to the Bethesda Mission. If you can't make the event but want to make a donation anyhow, you can enter that amount and do it. Please consider becoming a member of the Friends group, they will keep you abreast of their happenings, work days, etc in Weiser.

So, sign up, come out and ride your bikes in the AM, and finish at the Open House to eat and socialize.

Here is the link to the Friends group:

Okay, this may be the first time you have seen all three of these groups combined together, but there are positive changes on the way. Over the last couple of months there have been meetings with a renewed group of individuals to take mountain bike riding in the Central PA area to the next level. Shortly Samba will be an IMBA chapter club and Rattling Creek will be part of the territory!!

The scouts have implemented new guidelines for the use of the camp for non-scout activities such as hiking, biking and trail running. Please reference the attached map and closure date files.
  • Effective immediately, with the exception of Sundays, the camp will be closed to all activities during hunting season.
  • During scout activities the camp will be restricted to the normal summer areas outlined on the map.
  • Night riding is still being evaluated and if the current 1 hour past sundown changes, additional information will be sent out.
  • New gates are/have been installed to limit vehicle travel to the internal areas of the camp.
  • Posting of the map and closure dates will be posted at all entries to the camp.
I would recommend printing these out and keeping a copy for easy reference Please forward this to anyone that uses the camp.  Matt MyersSAMBA- Trail Coordinator J. Edward Mack Scout Reservation

Hello SAMBA,

Looks like summer is past and fall is here. Where does the time go? So what has SAMBA been doing? Over the Summer the Advisory Board has met several times in an effort to become an IMBA Chapter to improve and strengthen the Club. The Chapter program will help us focus on the trails with IMBA taking care of our membership (this will make you a member of both SAMBA and IMBA) as well as making us a non-profit club. This process should be complete by the end of the year and in that time we will be looking for people to help with various Committees. With your support SAMBA will be a stronger club that can better support Central Pennsylvania. I appreciate your support and patience as we move through this transition.

Upcoming event: Second annual mountain bike night ride at Governor Dick on October 5th. Click here for more info.

Alert: Hunting season begins this Saturday, 9-29-12. Governor Dick is the only park that does not allow hunting. Click here for the hunting schedule.

Tuesday Night Rides: This was the last week for the ride due to the start of hunting season. Keep a look out for the announcement for when we can break out the lights. Should be late October.

Renewals: Once SAMBA becomes a Chapter of IMBA the renewal rat es will go up. So renew before the end of October to join at the current rate. Click here for a membership form.

See you out on the trail.
