SAMBA is pleased to announce that after a year of discussions and meetings with the Boy Scouts of America, the PA Dutch council will be discontinuing the Camp Mack biking permits for 2014. The permit system will be replaced with a yet to be defined procedure for all non-scout users to acknowledge the rules restrictions.

Hello SAMBA,

I just wanted to take a few moments to pass on the August SAMBA update:

TRAIL WORK UPDATE: A huge thanks goes out to all of the volunteers that helped over 150 hours with the trail trimming projects this year. As you may have seen SAMBA volunteers worked hard to keep the trails open and most importantly opened up the sight lines so we see each other out on the trails. A goal of mine is to be able to purchase additional trimmers with the power scythe to make the work go quicker.

Swatara Park Volunteers: Mladen Zelezic, Terry Resanovich, Mark Light, Joe Ketrick, Joe Daversa, Nick Resanovich, Brian Arnold, Andrea Strubhar, Mark Light, Martha Ruff, Chris Shelly, Jeff Strubhar

Gov Dick Volunteers: Alex Kenzey, Eric Sheffer, James Bennetch, Pete Phillips, Curt Stager, Stephanie Bejgrowicz, Molly Wood, Jen Brubaker, Jim Stewart, J. Kinzey, K. Stewart, Bill Gentile, G. Hostetter, Mark Kaylor, Jason Reed, Matt McElheny, Andrea Strubhar, Brian Arnold, Ryan

If I missed your name please accept my apology and let me know.

SWATARA STATE PARK: SAMBA is looking to work on clearing the drains on the trail (You may have seen the initial work we just did on A1) Thursday August 29nd & September 5th. The meeting spot will be the Trail Head at State Park Lane at 6:15 pm.

GOVERNOR DICK: SAMBA is looking for people to get involved in the planing for the Park. This group would be tasked with aiding SAMBA's Park Liaison with planning activities that support the Park and it's trails. This would include the planning and support of trail workdays. Please reply to this message if you are interested.

SAMBA: We are looking for you help. Below are some areas SAMBA could use some additional help. As you can see we are looking to spread out tasks to make it easier for all. If you are interested please contact me by replying to this message.

  • Public Relations Committee: SAMBA is looking for people to help promote the Club with activities such as; website update/articles, working with bike shops/sponsors, exhibiting for the Club at Trail Heads and events. Ultimately SAMBA is looking for your ideas on how to best promote the Club.
  • Event/Ride Committe: SAMBA is looking for a group to plan group rides. The thoughts are to keep it simple with a goal of once a month to have a ride at different locations with different level groups and possible a ladies only ride.

RIDE: The Swatara State Park Tuesday evening ride continues leaving the trail head @ 6 pm. This is a who shows goes one is dropped.

Please feel free to reply to this message with any Club questions and or comments. They are always welcome.

Thanks for your time and support; see you out on the trail.

Brian Arnold, SAMBA President
