SAMBA: Rockin' The Trails Benefit Show

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010, Winner's Circle Saloon, Grantville, PA~ Don't miss this afternoon of great music!  Starting at 2:00PM, this concert benefitting the trail building efforts of Susquehanna Area Mountain Biking Association, will feature the music of three great bands: Moonshine Road, The Palm City Ramblers and Tuckahoe Ridge.

These are mountain biking musicians who care about trails, understand the need for funding, love the camaraderie of the mountain bike community, and have decided to give back by organizing this benefit.  This will be an all ages show, so bring the family!  There will be no cover charge.  However, donations are encouraged...ALL proceeds go directly to SAMBA!  Food and drink will be available for purchase from the Winner's Circle Saloon, who have generously donated the use of their room.  Also, lighting and sound will be donated by Matt Tubbs and Tubbs Drum Co.  Help support our trails by attending!  It's going to be a great time...You don't want to miss it!

Things are still coming together, and as more details of the evening's events unfold, we'll be sure to keep you posted.  Hope to see you all there!

Governor Dick Trail 15 cleanup.... PDF Print E-mail

Hello everyone,
I am quite pleased to announce that the multi-use trails at Governor Dick are open and mostly cleared of trees / branches / debris.  Amazingly, with Matt McElheny and Brad Ditzler operating the chain saws we were able to clear trail #15.  Additional volunteers cleared the cut trees and branches working together like a finely oiled machine.  Also, a small re-route was completed.  Special thanks to:  Janie Gockley, Sarah Shirk, Michael Cina, Steve Mongold, Brad Ditzler, Matt McElheny and to our neighboring tree pro Jim Eppley for lending us his 24" saw that my hubby Matt handled like a pro.
I am also pleased to say there is no need to schedule a work day for July 3rd or the 10th.  Everyone enjoy the holiday weekend and be safe.

Hello SAMBA!

I just wanted to pass on a quick SAMBA News update.

·         The Tuesday night rides are still leaving at 6pm from the trailhead at the end of State Park Lane. All riders are welcome!

·         Come Tame The Jungle! Trimming Thursdays continue this Thursday, 6-24 & 7-1, from 6pm till 8. The idea is to keep the singletrack flowing and still be able to see other users ahead of you. I will be bringing tools, but if you want to bring a trimmer it's ok. There is poison out there, so long pants are recommended. If you can make it please let me know (click here to send a message). Thanks to Nick & Terry Resanovich, Mike Carter, Mark Light, and Andrea Strubhar for helping out so far.

·         Name That Trail. DCNR is looking to SAMBA to name the trails we built at Swatara State Park. So send your name suggestions for any or all of the trails to me (click here to send a message). You have till the first week in July and then I will put a poll up for each trail for all to vote on. I’ll send out an email when the polls are up. If you need a map, click here.

Look out for the Get Your Ride On messages for random rides also.

See you out on the trail!

Special thanks to Mike at Green Mountain Cyclery for purchasing the NO HORSE signs and continued support of SAMBA and Camp Mack.
