Hi everyone,
June 7th 2008 is National Trails Day which is the signature event inspired by The American Hiking Society. They too seek to inspire the public and trail enthusiasts to discover, learn about and celebrate trails. In conjunction with Eastern Mountain Sports, a corporate sponsor of The American Hiking Society, we would like to promote an event which will include instructional work shops, trail work projects, and of course hiking and having fun!
Here are the details to register for this event:
When: June 7th (Saturday) 2008 8:45am - 1PM *must sign a Governor Dick volunteer form on arrival to participate
Where: The Park at Governor Dick - Environmental Center 3283 Pinch Road Mt. Gretna, PA

What to bring: Supply of water and snacks- hydration pack is best Heavy gloves Hiking shoes Tools for trail corridor clearance (hand saw/loppers/folding saw)*if you have Bug repellant and sun block lotion *emergency essentials (personal medications, such as a bee sting kit) Work Objective: Corridor clearance to open up trail sight lines; removal of invasives (barberry, wild rose bush, picker bushes); removal of debris from trails; general trail improvements in some select areas if time allows
